Fly to Churchill Downs For the Derby
Be there in person to bet the 144th 'run for the roses'
Are you thinking of heading down to Kentucky for this year's derby? I do recommend it and I would also recommend you start planning for it now. If you've never experienced the thrill of a high-stakes horse race first-hand, you must. There are very few things like it... especially when there are 130,000 other fans out there with you cheering with you.
May 7th will mark the 144th annual 'run for the roses' held in 'our old Kentucky home' - Churchill Downs. The Kentucky derby is the youngest of the original three triple crown races (having been first run in 1875). The Preakness was the first of the 3 majors run in 1873 and the Belmont Stakes was run first in Elmont, NY in 1876 (but first officially run in 1867). After an exhaustive effort to create an American version of the Triple Crown of horse-racing - akin to England's Triple Crown - these 3 large-stakes races were finally unified into what we now know as 'the triple crown' in 1919 and are still run today.
Each 3-year-old thoroughbred racing championship season officially begins on "the first Saturday in May" and continues two weeks later in Baltimore then concludes in Elmont, NY - three weeks after that (hopefully with a highly-coveted triple crown trophy at stake).
Executive Fliteways can fly you into Louisville Airport - which is approximately 40 minutes from Churchill Downs. We can get you to the track on derby day too. Keep in mind that parking at the Downs is traditionally an exercise in patience and acrobatics so we do not recommend you trying to find your own spot. It is much better to just get dropped off there and then picked up later.
Give us a call today at 1.800.533.3363 and ask for James. He will get you there.
