Maintenance First
|
|
Executive
Fliteways, with the assistance
of technicians from the
manufacturer, Pratt &
Whitney, accomplished the
first Integrally Bladed
Rotors (IBR) inspection
outside of a P&W Service
Center. The work was completed
at EFI's maintenance facility
at Long Island MacArthur
Airport in Ronkonkoma, New
York.
The IBR was performed on
the number one |
|
engine
of a Learjet 60 aircraft in a
matter of hours. Normally, this
inspection involves flying the
aircraft to a Pratt & Whitney
service center and removing the
aircraft from service for approximately
three days.
Performing the inspection on-site
reduced operating costs and down
time on the aircraft. A team of
three Pratt & Whitney technicians
traveled to the aircraft and brought
with them all needed tools to
perform the inspection. The inspection
was complied with as if the aircraft
had traveled to a P&W service
center. The inspection showed
no major discrepancies and the
aircraft was returned to flying
status at the end of the day.
